I've been right there, Laura, don't give up! I love the advice about starting with the beginning and ending and filling in the rest! I might try it next time. :-)

I have been known to edit my ms to death. Nowadays, it is once or twice. I was told by a publisher once to change my latest release almost to a different book. I took the plunge, said no and it was accepted by another publisher a week later. So the moral of this is, if you think its good, don't change it!!! Not unless an editor is making it more full, or adding ambiance rather than annihilating it.

Yeah, bookcovers can be very misleading. Few lucky authors get to pick the covers. I also find amazing how picky some readers can be, too, when things don't match.

I like your example. That's about all I need when reading and about all I give when writing too.

Too much description leads to skimming and not enough leads to me relying on the cover art. (And, one time, totally botching who was who until book two when the author DID finally give a little description. It totally threw me off the rest of for the novel.)
